FUTAB: Slang for "Feet up, take a break".
A tip to reduce end-of-year fatigue
It's that time of year when we are all exhausted and ready for a break.
If you google "end of year fatigue", you will find hundreds of results. I skimmed through some, and they all had much the same advice:
- Practice self-care.
- Get enough sleep.
- Reduce social media time.
- Eat healthily.
- Get some exercise.
One piece of advice doesn't appear as often. That's sad, because it's easier to do and very effective. And that's simple: Practice gratitude.
It doesn't matter what your religion or world view is. Expressing gratitude has benefits to your mental and physical health. This is not just anecdotal - one study measured brain activity using fMRI scans.
I know I've written about this before. But that's because it's easy to forget, and I need the reminder.
Thank you for ...
For most of us, 2022 has been a hard year. Nobody started the year with a full tank. We crawled into 2022 after the stress of 2020 and 2021. And then we were hit with more load-shedding and insane fuel prices. But it's time to be grateful.
- Thank you to those clients who treat us like partners. We love being part of your training journey.
- Thank you to the "golden oldies". You are the developers and managers whose history with us goes back years. Even if you only send a few people a year, you are very special to us.
- Thank you to our new clients, who took the risk of trying a new training provider. We hope that you will become golden oldies too.
- Thank you for reading my emails. And an extra thank you for every time you reply. It may seem like a small thing to you, but it makes my day.
Our official South African festive greeting
We wish you a wonderful holiday season, and a fabulous 2023.
May you have water, electricity and - unless you are taking a tech break - a stable internet connection.
